2012 April Directors' Report


MINUTES OF QUARTERLY GENERAL MEETING – April 15, 2012

ATTENDING DIRECTORS:

AGENDA ITEM:

1. SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE REPORT
(Wendy Wolfe)

Wendy provided the directors with an update of the committee’s initiatives.

a) Garbage bins - an audit will be provided to the CBPOA Directors for the next meeting as to the usage of the bins – success etc. - Mickey Rogers and Leanne Mason will be meeting with the City of Surrey to discuss the garbage bins and additional items
b) Business Initiatives - the committee is in the process of designing signs that will be provided to the local businesses to show their support of the initiatives. A mock up of the sign will be provided to the Directors at the next meeting.
c) Oceans Day - the sustainability committee will have a presence at this event and encourages the community to do the same
d) Dog Waste Bags - there is discussion about providing dog waste bags at all of the entrances to Crescent Beach Park.

2. EMERGENCY COMMITTEE
 (Mark Nelson provided on behalf of Jim Mason and the emergency committee)

 a) First Aid Training – an update will be coming to the Directors as to the details of the community First Aid Training session.

3. COMMUNITY MEETING UPDATE
 (Erik Seiz and Karen MacPherson)

- Erik and Karen attending the March 15th meeting on behalf of the CBPOA Directors. Erik provided the Directors with the minutes of the meeting which noted that most of the agenda items have been addressed. - Mark Nelson will approach the Community group and propose another meeting for late June with the focus to be on safety in Crescent Beach.

4. PROPOSED MEETING WITH MAYOR WATTS AND COUNCILLOR RASODE
(Mark Nelson)

- Mark will be able to meet with only Councillor Rasode at this time. Both Erik Seiz and Karen MacPherson will join Mark. The objective to the meeting is to maintain and grow our relationship with the City of Surrey and keep them (and CBPOA) informed of initiatives, items of concern etc. from both parties. These items will include:
- beach condition at the volley ball court
- speed bumps
- railway underpass
- Whistle cessation
- Groins at the beach
- Parking at Blackie Spit

5. SUMMER PROGRAMS
- Beach House Theatre – Shakespeare by the Sea Barb Armstrong will forward all of the info to the    Directors. The set date for the performances will be August 15 – 19, 2012.

- Crescent Beach Invitational (car show) – September 1, 2012.

Membership Elections – the position of President, Vice- President and Membership are up for election. If you are interested, please let one of the CBPOA Directors know. Elections will take place at the June 2012 Annual General Meeting.
