Directors Reports (cont’d)
a. The Treasurer’s Annual Report
ending June 30, 2022 (see attached Financial Summary July 1, 2021 to June 30,
2022) was presented by Jim Gordon as follows:
1.
Membership
Equity
Consists
of the total of cash and other expenses
Equity
improved by $4,500 over year end 2021 due mainly to a return of normal revenue
& expenses after the large $15,000 donation to St John Ambulance in 2021
for the 2 defibrillators.
The
Term Deposit which matured in January 2022 was not re-invested.
The
Treasurer suggested it would be prudent for us to re-invest an amount sitting
in the bank as cash with little return.
The
Treasurer suggests investing 30% of cash balances, way $13,500 in a 1-year GIC.
Moved
by David O’Sullivan, seconded by David Grant, that the Treasurer invest as he
sees fit, allowing sufficient funding for the CBPOA (the Society) to operate.
Carried.
2.
Operating
Expenses
Basic
operating expenses were in line with previous years.
Actual
expenses were almost double the year-end 2021 due to the purchase of a computer
($720) for the Membership Chairman.
b. The Treasurer’s Report regarding a
Calendar Year-End Financial Summary from August 1 to date (see attached
Addendum to CBPOA Financial Statement/2022-Calendar Year End 2022)
The
transfer, documentation and bank account access for the new Directors is taking
some time.
There
are some membership dues ready to deposit once the current Directors are able
to access the CBPOA bank account.
Legal
fees ($5, 855.00) were incurred in 2022 by Directors J. Carter, T. McEvoy, T. Hill.
This amount absorbed over 1 ½ years of membership dues, and represents over 11%
of the year’s membership equity.
Moved
by Michael Eyre, seconded by David Grant, that we not pursue the matter
of the legal fees any further. Carried.
Moved by Ron
Sorenson, seconded by Sally Stewart to adjourn the 2022 AGM. Carried.
